Oh My Aching Head

The last time I had a cold was almost 5 years ago, just after we moved to Cancun from Colorado (USA). And I contracted that cold on a trip back to Colorado, I didn’t catch it here. When we lived in Colorado I got at least one cold a winter, sometimes more. And with all the dust in the air there (it’s high desert there) my sinuses would bother me often, cold or no cold. So I was a tissue-carrying girl back there.

Here in Cancun I don’t get colds. At least I didn’t. I’m coming down with one now. Husbandito came home from work on Saturday suffering the early symptoms of a cold. By Sunday it looked to me like a mild flu, he had fever and chills and sniffles and was generally miserable. He’s better today (Monday), the fever has broken and he’s feeling better. But now I’m getting it. Bah humbug! I don’t want to get sick. One of the best things about living here is that I don’t get sick, and now here I am with a headache and a stuffy nose and that pre-fever feeling. Yuck!

On the other hand I guess I should be happy that catching a cold is news, right?

Aww, sorry to hear you are sick. With the change in the weather a LOT of people are catching the bug, Jorge was really really ill last week.

Lots of echinacea, vitamin c and liquids, wash your hands a lot and even try a little Sterimar to try to stop the little buggers from sticking around. Feel better!

Thanks for the well wishes. Hopefully it won’t last too long.

I just realized that I ran out of my super Vitamin C last week, maybe that’s why I’m sick.

I seem to get as many cold here as I ever did back in the UK. I blame the pollution!

My suegra lives in DF and is always sick too. In fact when she comes here her pallor is always a bit gray for a couple of days. After a couple of days here she starts to look better.

Cancun is blessed with clean air, we’ve got forest on one side and ocean on the other.

I’ve noticed that my friends here who have little kids and/or who sleep and work in a/c get sick a lot. But those that live with windows open do not get sick.

Awwwe, I hate anything that affects my nose and/or breathing. I feel bad for ya and poor husbandito too. Didn’t he just have food poisoning like last weekend? 🙁

The last time I had a cold I used Mucinex (sp?) and it really worked. As far as over the counter meds go it’s expensive but well worth it.

I hope you get to feeling better!

Thanks Lisa. Hopefully we’ll both be on the mend soon.
