The people are warm and friendly. There are lots of museums and also a English library.There are so many things to see and do. I plan to start living there by the end of the year. Especially the part about "you'll always be an extranjero" is very true, no matter how much you assimilate. Lucky for me, the crime issues have not affected me here in the capital, like they have the folks in Cancun, border states, Acapulco, and every other "tourist destination" in mexico. But the people are careless, sloppy, rude, dishonest and self-involved most of the time. Especially the dishonest part: it's part of the Mexican character, I think. I've adapted to some degree, mostly by taking many trips back home to San Diego, sometimes a month at a time. But I do want to get out of this country, especially out of this huge, dirty and unforgiving city. Hopefully I'll accomplish that in the next couple of years. I hate the thought of dying here !!
