She’s So OLD!
Today is my daughter’s birthday. She’s 15. I can’t believe it. And she spent her birthday in a Driver’s Education class, it’s a week-long class and she’ll have her Learner’s Permit by Friday. OMG! How did she get this old? It feels like she’ll be in college before I can catch my breath.
I remember when she was little. It felt like she would be little forever. Those first few years seemed endless. But then when she hit about age 5 it was as if she started to race through life, and the years started to tick by so fast that it made my head spin.
And now she’s 15. And the airlines will let her fly to visit me unaccompanied (yay) and she’ll be driving soon (scary) and I’m wondering where the years went. Wow, time flies.
She comes to visit next week, so we’ll have a little time together before she heads of for 10th grade in the Fall. But seriously, I’m pinching myself, I can’t believe she’s so OLD! OMG!

Time flies when you are having fun! I remember when I turned 20 and said to my mother that time seemed to be zipping by so fast. She told me it gets faster the more decades that go by, and it never slows down! Remember those lazy kid days of summer when you would say to your mom “I’m bored….there’s nothing to do”….? Now it’s just a faded memory….zipping by!
Enjoy your time with your daughter next week. Maybe if you don’t sleep it will seem to last longer (Insert wink here)

Congratulations to your daughter, and also to you. I admit, it really does go fast, and it really does seem to speed up the older I get!
The thing I love about being a parent is how my role has changed over time. My boys still need me even though they are 37 and 35 but in such a different way. And when we talk or get together it is just the best. We are friends, good friends, and now, (GULP), Old Friends.
I wish all the same for you. It is a wonderful experience, every step of it.

Cat – I can’t remember the last time I got bored…but I think Margaret still gets bored sometimes.

I know how you feel! My daughter just graduated highschool and will be leaving for college in a month!
..and my baby is already 13!

Laura – My daughter keeps threatening to apply to college early (her dad and I both went to college after 10th grade) so college might be coming up sooner rather than later for her. While it was the perfect decision for me to go to college early I don’t want my baby to go off so soon…sniffle.

She is an adult now and parents often find themselves in such a situation where they cannot realize that their child has really grown up!
With her adulthood would come greater responsibilities,roles for you to play.This is a part of you growing up too,isn’t it

Garry – You are right, she is grown now, well, nearly anyway. But I feel I’ve missed so much of her childhood. I’m bummed.
