Alison Chase & Apogee Arts Dance Theater

It is with great pleasure that I announce that Alison Chase and I have released her web site. We’ve been working on it for over a year, a lot of energy has gone into it and it’s a nice feeling to finally have it out there.

Alison Chase is a choreographer and was co-founder of Pilobolus Dance Theatre. Alison’s new dance theater production company is called Apogee Arts. Apogee Arts’ mission is to “combine innovative choreography, dance training, performance and educational programs to create an experience that engages and informs audiences in unusual performance spaces.”

Enjoy!

Good looking site! I kinda miss the old days, in a way! Before I took the easy way out and used blog platforms I used to design my own sites, and a few for others. It gives much more satisfaction, and of course a lot more control over the site. But blogging is too quick and too easy not to take advantage of…

Thank you one and all for the compliments.

Gary – I use WordPress for many client sites now because I want my clients (and they want) to be able to edit their own pages. I do not want to have to go in and make text changes, it’s boring work. So I train my clients to be independent and give them to the tools to be.

In Alison’s case that didn’t make sense, she won’t have the time to care for a web site. In her case we debated relying more heavily on Flash, as many other choreographers’ sites do. But decided not to use too much Flash in order to make sure the site does well with search engines.

I studied dance in college and Alison’s work with Pilobolus was totally inspiring to me back then. I was involved in several performances that were inspired by Pilobolus’ work.

It’s wonderful to work with Alison now, I have such a huge amount of respect for her talents, she’s tremendous and is an inspiration to work with.
